The Ji Dian Station consists of a core that is 23 levels in length and a docking ring at the fifth level, which has eight docking bays and eight exterior docking stations. Two retractable refining and processing silos lie around the outer perimeter (previously there were three but one was launched).
The most recent census numbers show that Ji Dian is capable of housing as many as 1000 people. Currently, it has a crew complement of 202 (23 officers and 172 crew) and 182 acknowledged civilian residents. The number of people below decks is unknown, but estimates range from 60 to 400.
Ji Dian Station is the farthest body orbiting the gas giant Heinlein. It shares Heinlein?s orbit with four terraformed moons. They are, from closest to farthest, Triumph, Paquin, Lazarus, and Silverhold.>
Getting Up and Down: - The L5 lift connects the decks A, B, and 1 to each other.

From top to bottom: - Deck B - Observation Lounge, the Tian Wen Tai Observatory, cortex upline beacon towers.
- Deck A - Hydroponics bay 1 and 2, that are more commonly referred to as Eden and Midian, the Biology Center, and station offices.
- Deck 1 - Command Center, Security Base, Command-Level Offices, Communications, and Armory
- Deck 2 - Officer's lounge, officer's mess, engineering station, command-level quarters, astrometrics
- Deck 3 - Affluent quarters, officer's quarters, Holo-Plex, affluent restaurant (Hibiscus), primary medical bay, and security operations
- Deck 4 - The Promenade (Mall), nice restaurants (Chef Chu's, Le Bleu, Astrid's Garden, etc.) comfortable quarters, primary life-support, postal office, engineering station, and private offices including Blue Sun offices.
- Deck 5 - Lucky Lucy's, EMC, smaller comfortable quarters, private offices, various decent shops and restaurants (Blue Sun Gormet, Shanghais House, Pho Pho, etc.), security station, brig, access points to the docking rings 1 through 8, personnel center
- Deck 6 - Small shops, cafes and restaurants (Just Black, Pups 'n' Clucks), small offices, storage, security station, facilities command, small quarters
- Deck 7 - Card house (Roman's), poor quarters, low-quality restaurants (Ming's Buffet, Joe's, the Chicken Shack, etc.), very small offices, some specialty stores (the Pao Cao Ling Range, Gypsum's, etc.), security station, and storage.
- Deck 8 - Two security stations, engineering base, storage, and engineering equipment
- Deck 9 - Engineering equipment and storage, six bio-furnances, and the station's pulse engines.
- Deck 10 - Engineering equipment and squatters, rumors of a soup kitchen
- Deck 11 - The Gao Yishu Zhongxin Chapter House of the Artists Guild
- Deck 12 - Squatters are using this deck for unknown purposes. Stories circulate that gun fights have been known to break out on 12 with frightening regularity.
- Deck 13 - The Apex School, a Blue Sun funded school to help the people living in the lower decks.
- Deck 14 - Unknown.
- Deck 15 - Unknown. According to existing plans of the station, four reactors are set up around the station's center core and extend from deck 15 to deck 17.
- Deck 16 - Unknown.
- Deck 17 - Unknown.
- Deck 18 - Unknown.
- Deck 19 - Unknown.
- Deck 20 - Unknown. Reports of a free market that the squatters have setup exist.
- Deck 21 - Unknown. Reports of an added docking ring on the bottom of the core.
